Department of Community Medicine

The department of community medicine has been participating in various health activities in and around Calicut district, Kerala. Apart from teaching, the department is also involved in training, clinical and research activities. Special camps are made in epidemic situations and for the vulnerable and disadvantaged groups
 
Subject is scheduled to IIIRD & FINAL BHMS classes. We conduct seminars, group discussions, demonstrations, practical work, visit to public health institutions and community oriented training which includes field visits & family health survey for teaching. Interns training stresses on case management and disease preventions. Collection of data on infectious diseases, assignment and dissertation work on topics of public health importance are some activities for internees.
 
Medical camps are conduct in association with social organizations.
 
Services:
 
Epidemic control cell works in co-ordination with state level expert group, REACH in epidemic disease control activities. Epidemic control cell coordinates disease surveillance program in GHMC, Kozhikode and weekly report of vaccine preventable diseases to the DMO, Calicut
 
Health education classes are conducted in various schools & colleges.
