About Department
The department was established as a part of undergraduate course with its unique vision and mission. Homoeopathic Pharmacy is the study of methods for identification, collection & processing of medicinal substance from different sources of nature, preparing, preserving them in laboratory, combing and compounding according to the rules and regulations of Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia and dispensing them according to the physician’s recommendations. In 2005 and 2006, the department offered post-graduation courses. Along with the BHMS course, the department also offers the Certificate course in Homoeopathy (CCP (HOM)), a focused academic program for those who wish to work as homoeopathic pharmacist in dispensaries.
Vision
To impart to the students the knowledge of the pharmacological and pharmacognostic aspects of Homoeopathic drugs, to make them familiar with writing prescription and for dispensing medicines and to give an awareness regarding Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeias along with Drugs and Cosmetics Act,1940 and its Rules 1945.
Mission
- To give information to the students about the source, common name, family, collection, preparation, and preservation of Homoeopathic drugs.
- To teach the students the pharmacological action of polychrest drugs.
- To make the students proficient in writing prescriptions and dispensing medicines.
- To enrich the students with the knowledge of preparation of dosage, selection of potency, and routes of administration of Homoeopathic medicines.
- To create an awareness in students about the legislations pertaining to manufacture and sale of Homoeopathic medicines.
Infrastructure and facilities
The Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy is a specious, well-furnished and established department. This department is having two Laboratories (PG and UG) , equipped with all necessary items as prescribed in the Homoeopathy Central Council (Minimum Standards Requirement of Homoeopathic Colleges and attached Hospitals) Regulations 2013.It can accommodate 63 students at a time and is geared with best in class storage for chemical reagents and apparatus, charts and manuals for to conduct Pharmacy sessions in accidence with the prescribed academic curriculum. It also impart the practical exposure of the subject - Department is regularly making students visit /Educational tour at the renowned pharmaceutical companies and botanical garden. The Department of Pharmacy has an in-house library with sufficient number of books and Pharmacopoeias. The library is made available for reference for staff and students.
